Unlock the Power of Algebra!

Algebra 1

Course Description:

Algebra 1 is a rigorous course that covers the fundamental concepts and skills of algebra, including expressions, equations, inequalities, functions, graphs, and problem-solving techniques. Students will learn how to manipulate algebraic symbols, apply properties of operations, analyze relationships, and model real-world situations with algebra. This course is designed to prepare students for higher-level mathematics courses and to develop their critical thinking and reasoning skills.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Simplify and evaluate algebraic expressions using the order of operations and the distributive property.

Solve linear equations and inequalities in one and two variables, including systems of equations and inequalities.

Graph linear equations and inequalities, and interpret slope and intercepts.

Write equations of lines given various information, such as points, slope, or parallel/perpendicular lines.

Explore and compare various types of functions, including linear, quadratic, exponential, and absolute value functions.

Represent functions using tables, graphs, equations, and verbal descriptions.

Analyze the characteristics and behaviors of functions, such as domain, range, rate of change, zeros, and transformations.

Apply functions to model and solve real-world problems, such as growth and decay, linear and quadratic relationships, and systems of equations.
